After becoming a millionaire working for Ford, Wills struck out on his own. He had a factory built on the bank of of the Saint Claire River, added final E's to the name for class, and sold his first cars in 1921. The cars were excellent and expensive, but Wills was too much of a perfectionist for his own good. He often shut down production to make improvements, and never made enough cars to earn a profit. By 1927, the Wills Sainte Claire Company faded away, leaving behind a production 12,107 fine cars in seven years, and its distinctive Canadian Goose trademark FREE FREIGHT CONTINENTAL US ONLY |
