HISTORY OF SIGN:
Paragon gasoline and oils were produced and sold in the 1920s. Early in the twentieth century, Henry Irving, Robert Benjamin and Arnold Schwartz established the Paragon Oil Company in New York City. The sons of Ukrainian immigrants, the Schwartz brothers experimented with building the first oil heaters for use in residential buildings. Paragon Oil's business was mainly distributing fuel oil, operating a fleet of trucks around the northeastern United States. In 1959 Paragon was sold to Texaco.
