| REPRODUCTION VINTAGE SIGNS Remember the signs you used to see at service stations and car lots? Here they are again. These authentic vintage signs are made from 18 gauge steel and feature a colorful baked enamel finish. Our Vintage signs add a finishing touch to your barn, workshop or garage HISTORY OF SIGN: Gilmore Oil Company began in the early 1900s in Los Angeles. An article from the Miracle Mile Chamber of Commerce states: "During its lifetime, Gilmore Oil Company supported its oil production with clever, innovative promotions: Roscoe Turner was hired as a barn-storming pilot to fly around the Western United States with a lion cub named Gilmore as co-pilot. There were radio jingles, a Gilmore Oil traveling circus and clever newspaper ads, all adding luster to the Gilmore Oil brand. In addition, E.B. Gilmore built Gilmore Stadium where he produced midget auto racing to demonstrate Gilmore Oil products. Then there was the Gas-A-Teria (which was the first self-serve gas station in the country)..." A reproduction of a 1936 Gilmore station is on display at the Farmers' Market in Los Angeles. Click here to see Signpast Care Instructions FREE SHIPPING CONTINENTAL US ONLY |
